  1. HELP! I'm trying to serge the edge of fleece for Christmas blankets as a gift for my daughter to give her bosses new twins---single layer fleece, but my sergers keeps "missing" an occasional stitch on the width of the edge--just enough to be noticible---otherwise the stitches are perfect---what can I do? These need to be done by tomorrow morning!

  2. Use a size 14 needle and be sure it is a new needle. What stitch are you using? What weight of thread?

I just edged a fleece throw and I used jeans stitch thread in the upper looper and did a picot edge - looked like a blanket stitch. Stitch length at 3. I will wait to her back from you?

  3. WOW! I can't believe you really answered me--THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I was at my granddaughter's beginning violin recital or would have gotten back sooner---LOL! I'm using Maxilock thread, as the Viking dealer recommended it when I bought my Huskylock 905---It's 100% polyester, but I can't find a weight on it--altho all my Maxilock says, "TEX 27"--is that possibly the weight? I'm just doing a 4 thread overlock with the differential set at 2.5 (the highest) and stitch length at 2.0. Wish I knew how to do a picot edge---sounds nice!

  4. Yipes! You have the machine set up for gathering???

For edging - should use differential feed at a normal setting (could be 1.0 - but not sure what is normal for your machine. 2.0 stitch length is too short for the loft of the fabric. Try a little higher. Always test on scrap fabric. Maxilock is good thread but decorative thread for edging is much nicer. A picot edge is a rolled hem with the stitch length longer. Good luck.

  6. Thank you so much! The new needles worked great! I got some Bulky Nylon Gutermann thread (the only overlock thread available at Joann's besides regular polyester--we only have that and Walmart for fabric, altho I'd love to find some jean stitch thread), changed the diff & stitch length per your suggestions & for the first time, not fighting my serger---you are a miracle worker! Wonderful Christmas gift from you! THANK YOU!
